Summer Mission Trips


Why Mission Trips? 

At Columbia, we strive to meet the tangible needs in and build lasting relationships with communities in Northern Virginia, Southwest Virginia, Haiti and India through out Spend Yourself Ministry. We want to connect our youth with the world around them, a world that is bigger than their everyday lives in Northern Virginia. We want them to see and experience what God is doing in other communities, how He is changing lives and perspectives, and give them another context of what and where God is at work.  Student Ministries is committed to building partnerships with local churches and organizations in both Abingdon, VA and Hinche, Haiti. 

Southwest VA : July 28-Aug 4

What: For the past six years, students travel for a week to Abingdon, VA to partner with local churches and community leaders to provide handicap accessibility for those in need, and every year God continues to reveal himself in unimaginable ways. This trip is the perfect opportunity to experience the presence of Jesus in tangible ways through serving others. Join us this coming August as we continue to seek God and join him in the work He is doing in Southwest VA. This is a trip you do not want to miss! 

Cost: $350 (includes lodging, transportation, food, and construction supplies)

Fundraising Events: Easter Eggstravaganza Lunch Fundraiser March 24th from 11am to 3:00pm.

Haiti: July 19-25

What: Columbia Students have made it a priority to partner with the local church in Hinche, and Savanne Platte, Haiti to discover what it looks like to lead effective, exciting, and Christ exalting children's ministries in the context of the local communities. Because this is our priority, students will spend the first half of the week in Haiti working alongside of local children's ministry leaders and volunteers to write and plan curriculum for Sunday children's ministry programming, as well as Vacation Bible School. The second half of the week will be spent helping to execute a vibrant VBS program for children in the local communities. This is definitely a trip that you do not want to miss! 

Who: 11th through 12th grade (must have completed 10th grade)

Pre-requisites: Students must participate in fundraising events, as well as attend team meetings. All students must also be active participants of Columbia's Student Ministry, as well as volunteer once per month in Children's Ministry and Summer Spectacular.
