Victory Sunday was on October 16 and there was a lot to celebrate! As of today (10/19/16), we have pledged $9.4M of our $10.5M goal and we have over $4.6M of our $4.5M goal already in the bank; only a small gap in the pledged amount remains.  This means that as soon as we hit the pledged goal, we can break ground on the new building and we will be one step closer to “opening our new front door”.

We have no doubt God will continue to beckon each of us with how He’s calling us to be part of the work He is doing in and through Columbia.  We trust God will continue to move hearts in response to His call.  Every “next step” a Columbian takes, brings us closer to reaching our goal of $10.5M pledged.  We are confident He has gone before us and we look forward to proclaiming this victory in the near future!

There have been other victories revealed in ways we could have never imagined six weeks ago when G2G2 kicked off. For many, personal victories were celebrated as we stepped out in faith in our giving even when the spreadsheet indicated otherwise.  For others, victory was celebrated as they continue to fulfill their G2G pledge or just completed it.  Victory was proclaimed as we, Columbians, begin to more fully recognize what whole life discipleship looks like and choose to live into it!

In our victorious celebration and worship of the Lord this weekend, Columbians from different stages of life and demographics led us in a “parade of testimonies”.  It was a beautiful depiction of who we are as a community of believers and how God’s work in each of our lives becomes a powerful movement when He calls us to action and we, a unified community, act.

From these brothers and sisters we learned, “Columbia is…my home, my family, the body that’s walked alongside me through some of the most challenging times & celebrated the happiest times of life with me.”  And, “Columbia is…a way of serving God with our fellow believers in ways we couldn’t do on our own.”  The others shared equally meaningful and inspiring words of what Columbia is to their family.  We could hear a hundred more testimonies like this because Columbia is not just a place, it is where authentic, caring, loving, passionate and vision-filled disciples of Christ come to find others who share these same characteristics.  It’s a community that is family to many.  THIS is why we whole-heartedly pursue the work God has given us to “open a new front door to Metro Washington and the world!”

Share your story with us of what “Columbia is…”to you.  We want to hear how God has used Columbia in your life and you in the life of Columbia.

If you haven’t yet taken your “next step”, it’s not too late!  Bring your pledge card to church with you and turn it in the offering plate or the locked drop-box at the Information Center.  If you are unable to join us for services on the weekend, please mail them to Columbia Baptist Church, Attn: Donna Groover, 103 W Columbia St., Falls Church, VA 22046.  We would also be happy to pick up your card, if that is most convenient and helpful to you.
