Child Protection Background Application
If you are currently a volunteer or staff member with Columbia and have not started the background process, or are interested in joining Columbia's team, please fill out the online background application. (Click on the application for Children & Student Ministry Volunteer in the bottom left column, click on the application for the position of interest in the bottom right column, and then click on "Apply for Position." If you are a staff member, click on the application for Columbia's Staff and then follow the previous directions.)
Here at Columbia, we believe it is our responsibility to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children and students. They and their parents need to know that we have taken every reasonable step to ensure children’s safety in our ministry. Our policies and procedures should protect not only the children and students to whom we minister, but also those servants who graciously give of themselves to do the work of ministry at Columbia Baptist Church. Ultimately, we are working to safeguard the integrity of Columbia and her mission.
In June 2009, Columbia adopted a new child protection policy that broadens the scope of what ministries do to protect children from abuse. Part of this child protection policy is that each person who works with children or students under the age of 18 must go through a background application process as well as go through Child Protection Training.
For more information on Columbia's Child Protection Plan, pick up a brochure from a ministry wall, the Rainbow Desk, or the Information Center.
