Being willing to give our money or traveling to local or international mission fields is not enough and by no means the greatest acts we can do to share Jesus by alleviating world hunger.

We are also called to prayer, for "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16).

As you spend yourself in behalf of the hungry, lift them up to the Father in prayer. Take time to read about the people and places we are serving, spending time in prayer for the ministry as a whole or for specific areas by utilizing resources such as:

Spend Yourself: Introduction, Reflections by Dr. Jim Baucom

Falls Church: An Enduring Situation, Devotion by Dan Davenport

Southwest Virginia: Being Tightfisted, Devotion by Kristin Clifton

Haiti: Living Hungry, Devotion by Kristin Clifton

India: The Desperate Nature of Hunger, Devotion by Leslie Dunnegan

Prayer: Personal Encounters with the Hungry, Devotion by Jaclyn Olson
