Women's Fellowship Breakfast

Who's Calling?
Saturday, June 8, 9am, Room 229
Childcare RSVP by June 5

http://www.columbiabaptist.org/uploads/womens breakfast.jpg Have you struggled with hearing and responding to the many voices and influences throughout your life that pull and tug in so many directions and choices?  College/career, marriage (or not!), parenting (or not!), retirement (or not!), and so much more.  How do you hear and know whether it is God’s voice and call in all this, given the cacophony of other voices?  Who’s calling?  How do you know how and when to respond?

About The Speaker

Kathy Allen will share her journey that took her from her roots in Richmond, VA to a federal career in various international and domestic locations in and out of Washington DC, before landing in Falls Church and Columbia Baptist Church in 1995.  Her long and winding road includes being called to seminary in her late 40s without a clue as to why or what for, leading to a second, “encore” calling into ministry at Columbia @ Greenspring, a senior adult retirement community in Springfield.  Come hear about her passion for this new calling and ministry, especially in view of the oncoming tsunami of aging baby boomers.

At Columbia, Kathy is involved in Children’s Ministry, while her husband Larry “quacks” with the ducks on Sunday mornings, accompanies Kids Praise, sings in the Sanctuary Choir, and teaches piano with CIFA.  Their daughters grew up in Columbia since ages 6 and 8 and worked in Camp Columbia for several summers.  Kathryn teaches special education in a DC charter school and is engaged to be married in October. Margaret is a dancer/choreographer, completing 2 years of circus school in Turin, Italy, and is about to begin a yearlong adventure with a Spanish contemporary circus company in Australia.  Guess who’s planning to spend Christmas in Australia?
