Children & Student Ministries
Here is a look at all of the various ways Columbia's Children & Student Ministries will be experiencing advent this December:
  • Preschool & Grade School IG's will travel to Bethlehem where they will experience the sights and sounds of first century Bethlehem meeting characters, making crafts and participating in activities that bring the beloved story of the Nativity alive. Please note: Preschool JTB will encompass both IG hours and meets on the first floor preschool department. Grade School and Preteens meet either 9:45 OR 11:15 hours and meets in the Orchard.

  • Child Development Center: The children of the CDC will participate in shared learning experiences from The Journey children's material that compliments the Journey to Bethlehem theme and culminate in the Center's annual parent's Christmas Program. Half Day Christmas Programs are at 11am and 3pm on December 18.The Full Day Christmas Programs are at 9:30am and 11am on December 20.

  • Wednesday Nights Kids: Ditto! Yep, threading throughout the entire week- the kids will have another opportunity to broaden their understanding of the story of The Nativity and their experience of God this Advent Season.

  • Student IG's: Students will engage the Christmas story this year in experiential ways. From what the home of Jesus might have smelled like to putting their hands on the type of tools Joseph might have used. Students will be challenged to think of this story they have heard a thousand times in a new way. JTB Student IG's take place at 9:45 or 11:15 in The Student Ministry Center, 3rd Floor, 301 Building.

Student Huddles: Our newly launched huddle groups will be encouraged to speak to and reference the weekly themes of JTB as they meet in homes in December with the students.

Spend Yourself®
During the month of December, there will be multiple opportunities for you and your family to express your gratitude to God for his great love in the form of a little babe born to the least of these.

Children's Ministry: Children, preschool age (including the children of the CDC) through preteen, will make a bank to collect money throughout the month of December. The children are invited to bring back their banks and special offering during their CDC Christmas program or on Christmas eve.

Student Ministry: Our youth will again this year plan and host a Christmas Party for the children and families who are served by the Food Pantry on Saturday, December 8th at the Food Pantry.

Sponsor-a-Child: Through our partner organization, World Vision, Columbia will seek to reach our goal of 200 sponsor children in Haiti. Sponsor packets available for review and pick up through December 15th each Sunday morning. Could you and your family consider a child sponsorship for $35 per month this year and change the life of one of the least of these?

Christmas Eve offering: Designate your special gift for Spend Yourself® and bring for the Christmas eve offering.
