Warm Welcome

Small is big in the Connections Ministry where smiles and friendliness make a big impact to everyone who sets foot on campus! Join one of our Warm Welcome Ministry Teams and share your love for Jesus Christ with our guests as well as our attendees and members. There are many opportunities to serve in a visible place or behind the scenes - every Sunday, once or twice a month. Contact Jennifer King at 703-534-5740 ext 272 or Linda Olson at ext 284 for more information.

Warm Welcome Ministry Teams:

Parking Signs
To assist folks in finding our parking locations, a member of this team places a-frame signs in strategic locations around the building and parking lots every Sunday morning and for special events.

Parking Greeters
This team is the first face of Columbia. These volunteers welcome folks as they enter our main campus and help them find parking spots or direct them to alternate locations. They also look for guests parking in designated Guest spaces, welcome them with a smile, and direct them to the Welcome Center or other locations.

Greeters
On Sunday mornings Greeters are stationed at primary entrances and welcome folks as they enter and exit the building.  They provide smiles and say “Hello, may I help you with anything?” They also direct or escort first time guests or those with questions to the Welcome Center.

Welcome Center
These volunteers provide smiles, information about IG’s as well as Columbia’s events and programs, collect contact information, and hand out gift bags to our first time guests.

Gathering Grounds
This Sunday morning ministry is supported by a Set-Up Crew (folks that set up the room), Baristas (who make coffee and hot water), Hosts/Hostesses (provide smiles and a welcoming presence) and a Closing Crew (volunteers who clean off the tables and put supplies away).

Information Desk
The Information Center is a central point of contact at the Falls Church Campus during the week and on Sundays.  These volunteers answer the phone; provide smiles and assistance to guests, attendees and members; connect folks to ministry areas; and provide information on services and events going on at Columbia.

First Timers Table
Wednesday Nights are a time of fellowship at the Falls Church Campus.  Hosts/hostesses assure that our dinner guests have someone to dine with, answer questions or help find a Bible Study to attend, and collect contact information for guest follow-up.

Connect Team
Welcoming phone calls and emails to our first time guests are the specialty of this team.  These calls and emails provide opportunities to receive an additional warm welcome, learn more about Columbia and our ministries, and get connected to our fellowship.

If you feel a desire to assure that Columbia is the most welcoming place - then come join one of our Warm Welcome Ministry Teams.
