Prove the Tithe

March 17-18

What Are We Trying To Prove?

That We...

  • Trust God’s providence completely
  • Understand our roles as stewards and caretakers of God’s world
  • Know that all of our assets are temporal and ultimately worthless when balanced against the weight of eternity.
  • Love Christ and his church more than wealth
  • Know how to practice the disciplines of true, whole-life discipleship.
  • Are grateful to God for all of the good things he provides
  • Can do amazing things together when we give together to accomplish the church’s mission

  • Who Are We Trying To Prove It To?

    God and Ourselves

What Does Scripture Say About Tithing?

God does not shy away from being tested and invites us often to prove his steadfast goodness and respond in kind.

‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.’  Malachi 3:10 (NIV),

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.   Galatians 1:10 (NLT)

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you —unless, of course, you fail the test?”   2 Corinthians 13:5
