Columbia Institute of Fine Arts

Columbia Institute of Fine Arts

The Columbia Institute of Fine Arts, located in Falls Church, VA, opened its doors in September of 1993 as a ministry of Columbia Baptist Church.  CIFA is a program of arts education in which students receive private lessons and classroom instruction in music, dance and art from highly qualified instructors. Students have opportunities to join ensembles, and to perform through recitals at the church and other opportunities at outside venues.  The school operates under the Worship, Music and Arts Ministry of Columbia Baptist Church and in keeping with the philosophy and purpose statement of the church.  All lessons and classes take place within the safe, caring environment of Columbia Baptist Church.

The goals of CIFA are to provide quality instruction in the arts and to help prepare students for future service through the development of skills for performance and ministry.  The founding of CIFA was inspired in part by these words:  "Sing to the Lord a new song...with the sounding of the trumpet...with the harp and lyre...tambourine and dancing...strings and flute...Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." (Psalm 149 & 150)
