Last weekend we celebrated Front Door Sunday and our team had an opportunity to update the congregation during Saturday & Sunday services. We continue to work on building plans and permitting with Falls Church City and we have $10.140 million in committed funds which is just short of our goal of $10.5 M. Positive progress is occurring on all of these fronts! On Sunday, October 15, we will be joining the Worship, Music and Arts ministry in hosting "Go Sunday". GoSunday is an all congregation worship & baptism service on Sunday, October 15. After the service, we will gather for a church wide luncheon and to celebrate the progress we’ve made towards opening our new front door! This worship experience provides us with the unique opportunity to come together and reflect on why building a new building is a key tool in our discipleship. We are very excited about the opportunity this worship experience will give us to encourage one another and to celebrate all God is doing among the many Columbians who are faithfully and generously giving. More details on this event will be coming your way, but please mark your calendar now and plan to be a part of this event. Haven't pledged yet? It’s not too late to make a monthly pledge or purchase a Front Door Share. Call Donna Groover at: 703-534-5740 x211 or go online.
We had a wonderful turnout at our first Community Connect Restaurant Night on Tuesday. We are happy to announce we raised nearly $500! Greater than that, it was an opportunity for Columbians to be out in our community connecting with a local business and other community members.
Columbia made a bold decision to invest in our Falls Church location because we believe strongly that God is calling us to serve in this exact place. To help facilitate this outreach, Community Connect will be organizing a series of local events that focus on providing an opportunity for you to invite that person or family you want to see walk through our new front door. As we gather with great friends for food and fellowship, we will be asking local businesses to donate a portion of the proceeds they receive during these events to Community Connect.
Choosing to be part of “opening a new front door” has been a unique journey to each participating Columbian. God has called us to come together for this great task, but the ways and reasons for which He calls us are different; that is what makes G2G/G2G2 a powerful testimony of what it looks like to be whole-life disciples.
Community Connect is designed to enable increased giving to G2G2 while simultaneously strengthening our ties within Columbia and the community around us. One of the first steps to Community Connect is to build the Community Connect Partner Network.
